At school my essay on The Power of a Dream that I wrote for Black History Month was chosen for second place in an essay contest. As a reward I got two gift certificates--$5 each to spend at McDonald's and Subway!
Then last week my art was chosen by my art teacher to go to a big art show in Battle Creek. I made a gift box. Mine is the one with the sun on it.
Also last week I had a big competition called Destination Imagination and we were doing stuff about mythology. We had to do a skit about the culture of ancient Greece and an ancient Greek monster which was a Hydra, a nine-headed dragon. The only thing is, we didn't know that we would have this country until about five minutes before we had to perform a skit. So in the months before the competition we had to learn as much as we could about a bunch of different countries and monsters so that we could be ready to make something up on the spot. It was really hard but really fun.
